Lately, that’s meant Greg Barlow, the president of Merriam-Webster, going on the radio to talk about what human editors do that artificial intelligence cannot. “AI tries to figure out what the definition is,” he told Kai Ryssdal on Marketplace in October. “At Merriam-Webster, we actually write the definition. We create it, invent it, so it can’t be wrong.”
